Considered one of the top youth basketball coaches in Wisconsin, Ritchie Davis has immediately entrenched the Wisconsin Playground Warriors Basketball program in America's AAU power structure. Throughout his coaching career, Davis has proven to be a dedicated and strong-willed teacher, who can mold the character of his players with the positive values of discipline, teamwork and common decency. His formula for winning at life and basketball has made him the most respected and most successful youth basketball coach in the state of Wisconsin. Coach Davis credits many people for his continued growth in the coaching profession. Dale Parr of Bloomer, Jeff Boos of Sun Prairie, Tim Hopfensperger of Neenah, Scott Anderson at Stevens Point High School, Lee Rabas at Lawrence University and Tim Locum have been his biggest influences.

Growing Up

Coach Davis is a native of Bloomer, Wisconsin and graduated from Bloomer High School. He was a letter winner in four varsity sports including basketball, baseball, football, and track. While competing at BHS, the Blackhawks consistently competed for Heart O' North and Middle Border Conference championships. He was honored for his achievements in high school with all conference and all area accolades. Coach Davis attended the University of Wisconsin in Superior from 1991 - 1995 and received a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in business education. He minored in coaching. While at UW-Superior, Davis was a four-year member of the Yellowjacket baseball program serving as a captain for the 1995 squad.

Professional Career

Coach Davis is currently in Adult Education as a Business Careers Instructor at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee as well as at Goodwill Industries of Southeast Wisconsin, Inc. He previously taught Business Education classes in several school districts across the state of Wisconsin (1995-2008). He has coached boy's basketball, baseball, and football. He was a part of the Cardinal coaching staff that led Sun Prairie to the WIAA Division 1 state football championship in the fall of 1995 as well as an integral part of the baseball program when they brought home Sun Prairie's third WIAA Division 1 title in the spring of 1997. Coach Davis was also a member of the Neenah Boy's Basketball Staff that led the Rockets to the 2000 WIAA state boy's basketball tournament. From September of 2000 through August of 2006, he served as both executive director and head coach of the Fox Valley Skillz boy's basketball program. On September 1, 2006, he became the third executive director in the history of the Wisconsin Playground Warriors basketball program.

Coaching Experiences

Success has followed Ritchie Davis through every step of his coaching career. Over the past fourteen years as a head coach and as an assistant coach, Davis has been a part of over 1364 victories. He was instrumental in helping get the Sun Prairie Hoops Club started in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Coach Davis also founded and developed the Neenah Boy's Hoops Club in July of 1998 for boys in grades 5-9. The Neenah Hoops Club is one of the premier youth basketball feeder programs in the state of Wisconsin. His reputation has grown statewide for his work with young student athletes and development of youth basketball programs. Davis has been in demand recently as a speaker on youth basketball programs at conferences and coaching clinics across the state.
