5th Season with PGC -- UW-La Crosse '02
Basketball Background:
Coach McCabe played high school basketball for Kaukauna High School in Kaukauna,
Wisconsin, from 1994 - 1997 where he was the point guard on the 1997 FVA Conference
Championship team. Matt went on to play college basketball at the University
of Wisconsin - La Crosse where he started at point guard as a freshman. He
is known around the state for his dribbling/ball handling skills and loves
to teach kids to become better basketball players. He also played AAU basketball
as a teenager on a team that won the Wisconsin State AAU State Championship
five times. During AAU play Matt got the opportunity to play against some
of the best players in the United States such as Michael Redd (Milwaukee Bucks),
Shane Battier (Memphis Grizzlies) and others. This is the sort of opportunity
that he wishes to share and provide the Wisconsin Playground Warriors basketball
players.
Coaching Philosophy:
The Wisconsin Playground Warriors 10U/4th Grade boys basketball team was formed
to provide young players the opportunities to compete against the best competition
in the state of Wisconsin as well as nationally when appropriate. His main
goal is to teach basketball skills and provide a fun and exciting atmosphere
that will help the players grow into better basketball players and better
individuals off the court.
Matts favorite quote, "Success is in the journey, not the destination."
-Arthur Ashe
